Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- They are here, according to reporting in Scottsdale Progress. “Autonomous cars are coming to Scottsdale—General Motors will roll out its Cruise brand of electric, self-driving vehicles as part of a ride-hailing service in the coming months.” Mayor David Ortega said recently. “I’m told they are coming off the production line right now … this is not hypothetical,” Ortega added. The testing has been going on for months in off-the-main-drag neighborhoods like mine. Cruise Cars have been repeating and repeating routes that have them ready for what’s next. Using the Chevy Bolt Base, the easily recognizable cars possess more than 40 sensors and 360-degree view, according to the report, and the company has “logged over 2 million miles of San Francisco’s streets.” (Scottsdale Progress)
- WKTAR has reported the Oct. 18 opening of Thai Chili 2 Go’s 12th location in the Valley of the Sun. The Scottsdale shop is located on 90th Street and Loop 101 and will be open Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The report quotes Akshat Sethi, the owner of the newest franchise, “Our format is designed to provide on-the-go diners with delicious authentic Thai food, and we’re proud that our concept continues to be so popular.” (KTAR News)
- It’s the 50th time that MacDonald’s Ranch in Scottsdale has hosted the Pupkin Patch, 30 days of Fall fun from Oct. 1-Oct. 31. Activities include a hay maze, petting zoo, and pumpkin picking, according to reporting on Fox 10 news. Pony rides, barrel train, and a mechanical bull help round out the fun. Please leave Fido at home – pets are not permitted on the farm. (Fox 10 News)
