Volvo Follows BMW’s Lead With Huge Tech Announcement

Outside of the XC40 Recharge, all Volvos eligible for the update will enjoy enhancements to the infotainment system, bug fixes, and other new features. Owners with eligible Volvos will receive a notification on the car’s infotainment screen that indicates when the update is ready to be downloaded and installed.

It’s just a matter of time before OTA updates become the norm across the industry as 2021 has seen rapid progress in this area. In February, BMW launched its biggest OTA update yet, and the newly launched Range Rover offers OTA updates for over 70 electronic modules. Volvo now joins these premium automakers in offering this impressive tech to US customers too, which should further bolster the brand’s sales.
