Autonomous Semi-Trucks Popping up Amid Supply Chain Shortage

A truck driver shortage is a major reason behind a supply chain slowdown across the country.

The nation is expected to be short a hundred thousand truck drivers by 2023.

Because of this shortage, the industry is pushing toward an autonomous future.

Two autonomous driving companies are now competing for the shipping future.

These more than 35-ton semi-trucks are now moving goods between Dallas and Houston with their first client being FedEx.

They say these semis are not going to replace truck drivers but rather work in a helping capacity.

The vehicles are predicted be on the road full time by 2023.
